Director of Hospitality, Sales and Marketing / Partner
Born in Adelaide, Australia, not too far from the Barossa Valley, Nicole grew up with wine in her life, however having no idea how much of an impact it would have on her future. An organic chemistry graduate of the University of Adelaide, she followed a scientific path with a brief stint as a research scientist at Creighton University in Omaha, NE. Craving people and a dynamic environment, Nicole found herself back in the restaurant industry, learning management and studying wine. Her move to Detroit, MI gave her an incredible opportunity to be mentored by the first US female Master Sommelier, Madeline Triffon, which led her to become a somm herself.
Nicole’s passion for wine and her desire to move back to California had her packing up her Subaru Outback (of course), and driving out to San Francisco to become the next wine director of the esteemed Mandarin Oriental Hotel. Nicole’s passion to make everything just that little bit better allowed her to make a great impact on the beverage program, winning awards for her work.
Through great learning experiences, relationships and connections, Nicole eventually found herself living in wine country working for highly regarded wineries Dutton-Goldfield Winery and Benovia Winery. Nicole also has a wine consulting business where she excels at helping boutique wineries develop their business and reputation. Her expertise in wine education, hospitality, direct to consumer sales and business development are a great fit for the winery business and a compliment to the team at Satyre. Besides running the hospitality, marketing and sales operations for Satyre, she has also been known to be a great slave in the winery during harvest, and begging Ted to make more single barrel lots!
