2015 Seilenos Chardonnay Green Valley of Russian River Valley
We were so excited and knew we were blessed when the Dutton's allowed us to purchase a little fruit from their chilly Mill Station Vineyard, in the coldest, and foggiest part of the Green Valley of Russian River Valley. These old vines struggle in deep sandy soil to produce high quality fruit, with an acidity that lights up our faces. Barrel fermentation and partial malolactic fermentation were performed in the cellar, with 50% new French oak for 17 months.
Seilenos was the Greek god of winemaking and drunkenness, and father of the tribes of satyrs. We thought it would be fitting to honor him with this gorgeous wine.
This bright golden liquid shines like energy from the gods and bursts with aromas of golden delicious apples, meyer lemon, vanilla and coconut milk. Tart lemon curd pops up front on the palate, followed with granny smith apple, lime zest and creamy toasted coconut. We feel this has a great balance of sweet & tart fruit, with great minerality and weightiness, and would be amazing with Nicole's meyer lemon and wild mushroom risotto.
